Emson Tarirai
Welcome Agent
Emson this year celebrates his a decade as part of the Karoo Art Hotel team
He is likely to be the first person you meet in reception and he loves nothing more than to make you feel right at home from the minute you arrive.
He landed in Barrydale as a construction worker doing renovation work on the kitchen and ended up loving Chef Derek Lowe's food so much that he ended up staying permanently, or so we believe.
Emson enjoys taking guests on tours of the hotel and takes great pride in ensuring that all the i's are dotted and the t's crossed.
He was Sue's right-hand man during the most recent re-imagination of the hotel and loved every minute of it.

In a previous life in retail, Emson was a salesman, stock controller and branch manager in charge of security and staff training. He much prefers the Karoo life.
This father of two loves country music, pap and vleis, football and the occasional visit to Cape Town.
Amor Engelbrecht
Restaurant Supervisor
By no means a stranger to the hotel setting, Amor has been working at the Karoo Art Hotel for the past six year, but it has only been during this last year that she has derived maximum joy from her profession.
During the early days she worked in reception but was always intrigued by the inner workings and finer detail of the restaurant. Her passion for ensuring that everything is in place and beautifully decorated did not go by unnoticed and she was promoted to restaurant supervisor earlier this year (2022).
Amore was born in Cape Town, raised in Barrydale and then returned to the big smoke where she completed her high school career.
Seeing as all roads lead to Barrydale, she would return here later on and although she enjoyed manning the front desk the fast paced environment of the restaurant caught her eye and, as a woman who likes new challenges, she soon found ways to help out in another department.
Her attention to detail is in a class of its own and Amore takes great pride in ensuring that all guests experience only the best.
"For me it is important that when our guests return to the hotel they do so because they feel it is like a second home to them."

When she is not creating that perfect setting, she enjoys spending time with her family. Amore loves Old School music and is a firm believer that there is no substitute for hard work and dedication.
